Grading Foerster's Algebra
Hello! We are starting our first year of high school and grading is brand new to me. I really appreciate the instructions on grading Carrie has provided in the World Geography guide, but I am still at a loss on how to grade Foerster's (the guide says to refer to the math text, but I don't see instru...

Re: Finish Beyond or jump to Bigger
Hi! Two years ago, we also only got about half way through a guide after my oldest dd had an injury. Beginning a new guide mid-year was actually kind of nice...like a breath of fresh air! It is also good to remember that starting in Preparing, the guides are scheduled in 4-day weeks. So if you went ...

Re: Need Math Help
Hi Jessica! Not sure I have any answers for you, but I wanted to chime in and say I understand where you are coming from! I am a bit farther along in Singapore with my 11 year old daughter. She is in the beginning of 5A. Incidentally, we have also been using HOD for 5 years! (And, I don't post much ...

So very sorry for your loss. Praying for your family.

Re: Social studies and health
We are in Nebraska, too :D , and this is what we do on our homeschool paperwork: For the hours: I just break up the 1032 hours pretty evenly. This year we have 6 months with 120 hours listed, 3 months with 90, and 1 month with 42...that equals 1032. So much of life is learning, so even though we may...

Re: pics of timeline in beyond?
The 1800 column seems to be missing off that one. I found another picture in the week in review section: http://s268.photobucket.com/albums/jj8/ ... IM2431.jpg

Re: pics of timeline in beyond?
Hi! We did the timeline a few years ago (and are doing it again this year). You will want to make it 5 columns across and at least 8 rows down...I had made it 9 so we have a blank row at the bottom. The first time we did it we used regular sized construction paper and the squares were quite small. T...

Re: What would you do? PLEASE!
Amy, Wow! Looks like you are getting lots of good advice! I have a couple more thoughts. :D The year that we did the first 17 units of LHFHG, there were things that my young dd could pretty easily do...like the art projects, music, Bible Verse, and Science. But the history readings and Burgess Books...

Re: What would you do? PLEASE!
Hi Amy, I was in a similar situation, so I will tell you what we did...it may be an option for you, too. :D Last year I combined my two youngest when they were newly 6 DS and newly 4 DD into LHFHG. We went half-speed together with the left side of the manual and storytime (every other day). I had my...

Re: HELP! Independent Histpry in Preparing??
Hi Shannon, We just finished Preparing today!! Yeah! The independent history box is supposed to be for students to do on their own...to "enhance the study of history" as the catalog says. It is optional and has 12 books that are used with it. Follow the link the previous poster gave...the deluxe pac...

Re: Need advice. Should I..........
Hi Samantha, I will tell you what we did, and that may be helpful (or not...LOL). :D I also have a daughter who learned to read at school, and it came very natural and quick for her. My son, who is now 8 (and is doing GREAT with the emerging readers, by the way), did not seem to take to it so natura...
