Re: Educational computer games??
www.starfall.com is a great "free" website for teaching phonics and reading. There is also games and activities that my son loves doing. That is the only one I can think of at the moment.

Well, sort of...in his own way. He likes to draw pictures, so he drew one of him telling the postman thank you.

finished our first day
My son loved his first day with LHFHG. So did mom!! :P I wanted to share something funny with you all. When the package arrived yesterday and we opened the box, he was so excited. He loves new books. He asked me if he could write the postman a thank you card for bringing him such a cool gift. It was...

Re: Just ordered and can't wait to start....
Thank you for all your kind words. I really love this forum! I'm feeling more relaxed now and will just do what God leads me to do. I live in fear that I'm not ever doing enough or what if I have to send him to public school and he's not on target. I should know by now that it's the evil one who kee...

Just ordered and can't wait to start....
I was going to wait until August to start my ds with the LHFHG but I've decided to start early. I need more structure to my days and have been feeling like I've let things slide. He technically would not be starting Kindergarten until August of 2009 because of his birthday being in November. So he j...

Re: Explode the Code
Thanks...all you've said makes sense. I am using the 3 books prior to Explode the Code and it does do a lot of handwriting and I guess that is where my confusion was from. I love the books and my ds doesn't mind them at all. He's a wiggly one but will sit and do at least 3 to 4 pages in the book at ...

Explode the Code
I've been using the Explode the Code series with my 4 yr old. Actually I believe it's called Before Explode the Code. Anyway, would you consider this the same as the writing program used with HOD? I've never seen Italics or the other one to compare but I didn't want to switch what we're doing if it'...

Where to start
I know there is plenty of examples on here which program to start your child in but I wanted to get some experienced opinions. My son just turned 5 in November and I just started homeschooling him this past August. In our state, you wouldn't start Kindergarten if your birthday is after September 1st...

Re: Question about re-using curriculum
Thanks for all the advice and encouragement!
Jessi, I sent you a PM but I can't tell if was sent to you or not. Still trying to figure all this out. I hope you see this and if you didn't get my response to your questions about CC, let me know.

Re: Question about re-using curriculum
Thank you, it really helps a lot. Not seeing the curriculum in person makes it hard to see how everything works. I love the idea of not a lot of seat work. this year we're doing classical conversations...not sure if you've heard of it. We really enjoy it but I have baby number 3 on the way and I rea...

Question about re-using curriculum
I'm new to homeschooling and have been teaching my just turned 5 yr old son kindergarten this year. I have another son who will be 3 in April. My question is if I purchase HOD, will I be able to re-use the curriculum with my younger son when he turns 4 or will I need to purchase everything again. I ...
