Re: Running mult. guides = epic fail for us :(
I don't know if it will work for you, but I read everything they are going to read independently the night before. This makes it very easy for me to have meaningful interaction with them throughout the day as they ask me things or comment on what they read. It also makes it very easy for me to chec...

Re: Exact Dates of time periods covered within each guide?
Thanks Lynn!
Let me add, I understand that the history cycle is considered a secondary factor when choosing your HOD guide, still, I would just like to know what time periods or dates in history are covered in each guide out of curiousity.

Exact Dates of time periods covered within each guide?
Is there somewhere where I can see the exact dates or period of time that is covered within each guide from Bigger on up? Especially the history cycle of CTC, RtR, RevtoRev and the new Modern coming up. Also, I'm curious to know what time periods will be covered in the Geography Through History and ...

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I'm going to go ahead and start her, and just go slowly like I am with everything else.

Starting handwriting with a 4 year old?
My daughter turned 4 this past June. We are currently using LHTH with additional math and phonics. I have not pushed her at all but am just taking it slowly at this point. She knows all her letters and letter sounds already though, and is even reading some 3 letter words. She knows how to spell her ...

Re: DD losing interest in LHTH activity-help!
Hi Daisy,
It is a cutting skills activity, yes. She had no problems when she was cutting out 1, 2, 3 and 4 images but now that we have reached 5 she is resisting for some reason. I guess I could ask her to cut them out one at a time and take a break in between so she doesn't feel overwhelmed.

DD losing interest in LHTH activity-help!
My DD is 4 and we are on unit 5 of LHTH. Yesterday I found 5 images of purses online and printed them on a page for her to cut out to add to her number book. She showed absolutely no interest, so today I found 5 pictures of elephants, thinking maybe it was just the images of purses she found boring....

Re: Poll! Help me decide what non-HOD activity to cut out
Hmm....that is a tough one. So let me make sure I understand. Are you doing all the stuff in your avatar PLUS an HOD program? If so, I don't see how they possibly need more from an acedemic co-op. That seems like a pretty full workload already. Let me just give you my opinion as a formally homeschoo...

Re: For those who have done LHTH with a 2 year old...
I'm doing LHTH with my 4 year old and 2 1/2 year old, and it's going great! My two year old loves the program just as much as her older sister, and can do most of the activities. There are a couple of things that are above her skill level, such as cutting with scissors, but for the most part its a g...

I agree....during my 2 year old's nap is when I schedule my one on one schooling with my oldest. If you're looking for educational videos....I highly recommend the leap frog dvds......Letter Factory, Math Circus, etc.

Re: LHTH concept of counting by 2's.........
Any idea where I can get that song? Thanks! A veteran homeschool mom recommended to me using songs with skip counting in them. The one she recommended is called One Hundred Sheep. It is basically Bible stories put to song with skip counting in them (2s, 3s, 4s, 5s, 6s,...through 10s). Both of my kid...
