Re: Elegant Cursive for my daughter
I like the Queen Homeschool Pictures in Cursive books. They are an art study and cursive in one. Supposedly they get progressively harder, but I haven't seen them in person yet. We're still working on Cheerful Cursive but I thought I would move on to these Queen ones when done with that.

Re: Good books for girls
Elsie Dinsmore? What about the Marguerite Henry horse books, Misty of Chincoteague, etc. Does it have to be a series? If not, the reading list from DITHOR is great because there are so many options you will only use a few for the actual program and can use the rest as fun and "safe" reading. My dd i...

OT - Lamplighter books
Hope it's okay to ask this here. If not, admin pls delete. I'd like to start collecting a few Lamplighter books a year for my kids, specifically one each for Christmas to start. I think they are beautiful and would be excellent heirlooms for them to take from home to college and to their own homes s...

Re: need advice with math
Hi Jasmine, I don't think I have advice per se, as my oldest is just 9, but I just want to encourage you that you know her best - and want what's best for her. I think if she struggles with math at this age, then most likely she will not be going on to a career in college and life as a mathematician...

Both of you have me tearing up here - what a precious gift to realize that God loves us as we are and has a special plan for each of us. Thank you so much for sharing!

Re: How do you discipline yourself concerning bedtime for YOU?!
Instead of packing my dh's lunch the night before, I wait to pack it in the morning. That forces me out of bed because he needs his lunch. I start the coffee and come back upstairs. I make my bed right away, which keeps me from being tempted to crawl right back in it. I open up the shades to let mo...

Saying a prayer for you to feel God's grace and peace.

Re: My kids are stressing over the sketches..
So funny that you'd post this today. DD came to me all stressed that her dinosaur looked HORRIBLE! I can't convince her otherwise. All I tried to do was encourage that it's practice, that it's supposed to be fun, and that she is not a professional artist. Her dad is, so I called and asked him to wor...

Re: From Junie B. Jones to Edward Eggleston-help!
I totally agree! Let go of the guilt. Just keep feeding her the good stuff. My dd was like yours, pulled from pub school and only read "twaddle". Then we read Baby Island and Stories from Grandma's Attic and Stuart Little and Cricket in Times Square and Mr. Poppers Penguins, and so so so many more. ...

Re: Well...had to drop Singapore...
I was planning on using Singapore, but now I am concerned. Will they not be able to memorize the facts with Singapore???? :? I had been using MUS with my oldest and math drills and she still needs work memorizing. Carrie's instruction in the early manuals is priceless. She does a lot more than the ...

Re: Well...had to drop Singapore...
What is CLE? Oops, sorry! It's Christian Light Education. I have read SO many great reviews that when I looked at it I thought it would fit my dd really well. Not any kind of indictment of other programs, this one just spoke to me as one that I think will work for her, so I thought I'd share.
