Spelling list vs. Dictation

I am sure this has been talked about before but I cant seem to find a thread about it. I have a dd that will be 7 soon. We will be starting Bigger. She did spelling list #1 last year in Beyond, so should she just do the spelling list this year and not the dictation yet? If so, is the dictation in th...

Re: Reading Made Easy?

My daughter used RME for her kindergarten year (last year) and I also used the worksheets with the CD. I really liked using the worksheets b/c it reinforced what we were learning that day. We did worksheets every other day. She like them as well. I saw her confidence build as we used them. I did won...

Re: Beyond- Curds and Whey??

Hmmm... I am sure one of my problems was that I had skim milk. I will try warming it. John'smom, if your butter turns out, I would love to hear about it. Thanks guys!

Beyond- Curds and Whey??

Okay, I am on week 15 and we tried to make curds and whey but I might have used too much milk. Does anyone have advice for me?? It just ended up looking like thick stinky milk  By the way, the day before, we made ice-cream in 5 min!!!! That was awesome... we are putting that idea away for a cam...

Re: Handwriting help.....

I took Holly S' advice and had my dd copy her poetry below the lines I wrote for her today. She did so much better. I think it also took the frustration level out of copywork b/c she didnt get lost in the text looking back and forth between paper and book, and therefor finished the task much quicker...

Re: Handwriting help.....

I was just going to ask the same question. I have a 6 year old girl who also flips letters and numbers. I was worried that maybe I needed to do extra work with her to get it right. I am interested in what the others have to say. I am glad to see that I am not the only one struggling with this. My dd...

LHFHG History ?

Hi I was wondering if somone could help me... I am using LHFHG and I reached Unit 32 day 5 and I noticed that the scheduled reading for that day included History Stories for Little Children p 245-246. Well the book only goes up to page 196. I received an alternate reading schedule when I received my...

Who knew???!!

I am currently doing LHFHG and we love reading the "History Stories for Little Children" We/I am learning so much! We have made a game out of learning. I ask the questions at the end of the story and my 5 year old and my 3 year old (who sits in on our school) compete to see who can answer first. Who...

Re: Advice for a newbie???

Thank you to all who commented. I need all the advice I can get. My dd is the first and she is just starting kindergarten. I worry that I can easily discourage her with her writing. Making numbers is sometimes tricky and I try to get her to think about how to form the number or letter before she sta...

Advice for a newbie???

I started LHFHG today with my dd and I found myself with a few questions. I would really appreciate the guidance from anyone who is more seasoned to this than I (which would probably be most of you :) ) Do most of you let the kids write directly in the book or do you photocopy the pages for like mat...

From Finger Plays to Science Lesson!!

We are currently doing the first week of LHTH and were doing the "A-A Adam do you believe" fingerplay together. We had to stop and go look at the computer for all the pictures of the animals we were supposed to be acting out. They didnt know what an anaconda or an albatross was. We found pictures an...
