Re: Has anyone spiral bound their manual?

I'm so glad someone posted this question, simply because I was not aware of the "lay-flat" binding. Now I know that can be a little rougher on my book! And I love the idea of using tabs, what a truly terrific idea!

Re: OT: Prayer Request

I will pray for you and your little one. May I also offer some encouragement... between 6mos and 9 mos of age my ds only gained 1lb! His weight wasn't even on the scale  As I am sure you realize I and his doctor were very concerned. Because he was a little older than yours I was told to cut b...

Re: Weekly Check-in 10/23/08

Great PIc! It sounds like you had lots of fun. I wish the county fair here was worth going to, but sadly it is NOT! I had to spend all week in jury duty! So we had our first week off since starting eleven weeks ago. Dina was not at all pleased that we were not going to do school this week, which gav...

Re: What is your "ONE" Tip to make HOD successful?

All of the previous tips are GREAT!! I have definitely noticed that Dina seems to always know what we are doing next, so even though she can't my manual she is prepared in her heart and mind for our day's activities. Sometimes she eve let's me know if I have forgotten something after being distracte...

Re: Do any of you color code your books?

I do I color code them by guide and genre and also put the reading level on there if that applies. It helps keep it all straight especially if you are doing a few programs with several kids. I just used color tabs I did it by DITHR, BIgger, Bigger extension, LHFHG and emerging readers. Then I put t...

Re: Will you rejoice with me!

Thank-you for your further encouragement! I know that I can't ever take the credit for bringing someone to a saving faith in Jesus, only the Lord has the power to call us to Him. But I do know that our obedience to Him does produce fruit, because He is able to work through us, His body. It is funny ...

Re: Will you rejoice with me!

I pray you are feeling better. I'm sorry to hear your trip ended badly. I read your post while I was at work last night and I had a hard time not crying. Thank-you for sharing the story of your son, what a wonderful accomplishment to have a child who loves the Lord with all his heart. I have s...

Re: Yay!!!! I Placed My Order (Intro)

Welcome! As the other ladies have said you will love HOD! It is God honoring, efficient and truly fun. I work a full time job, so efficiency was high my priority list but I didn't at the time how much fun we would have with it. My dd is learning, by leaps and bounds, not only the 3 R's but also how ...

Re: Week In Review 10-15-08

We had a TERRIFIC week!! It just seemed as if everything just fit perfectly together and went smoothly. We are on Unit 11 for LHFHG, the beginning of the New Testament. Dina absolutely loved the Rhyme and Motion this week and kept doing it over and over! She wasn't able to do somersaults, she instea...

Re: Give your opinion: Science in future guides

1. First of all, what do you think about this type of a science structure?          I like the year-by-year, subject-by-subject approach. That would ease my mind about my children's science education. I think by that age children should be ready for a more rigorous study of science. 2. Secondly, wh...

Re: Let's share our schedules!

I work at night so most mornings Dina has been up for a couple of hours before I get up and I don't have a consistent wake-up time after we wake up this is how our schedule looks... 1. Dina does independent warm-up work, usually handwriting, puzzles or phonic review 2. My mom knocks on my door when ...

Re: Week In Review 10-9-08

WE finished Unit 10 in LHFHG and wrapped up the Old Testament. I figured out that my daughter does NOT like to doing the handwriting lessons in the book or writing a single letter over and over so I am now using the StartWrite program to print out sheet of the memory verse for her to copy. She seems...
