Re: Singapore 6A/6B or Principles of Mathematics Book 1?
We are using and loving POM1 for my 7yh grader ! I use the daily lesson plan Included with the two book set. He's learning so much and is really enjoying it. I didn't know what to expect but it's beyond what I could ask for. Definitely a winning choice. Singapore is strong too and I love it as well....

Re: MFW vs. HOD
Thanks ladies. I have decided to try HOD. My kids will be in three separate guides, which I am a little nervous about, but I know it's the best placement. Are there any threads on here about scheduling the day with multiple young ones? We will be doing LHTH, LHFHG, BLHFHG. So no independent kids ye...

Re: does heart of dakota work for large families?
Yep! It really does and IMO it works better for large families than programs that are "made for" large families to come all ages. I have run up to four guides at once. I have five kids now grades 10,7,4,1, and baby this fall. (Theyre just turning 15, and 12,9,6, and 5mos) I'm.running two guides now ...

Re: Middle-High schoolers w/Dysgraphia & Auditory Processing
We've been doing PHFHG with both since I wrote about it just so I could see how it went. He's now enjoying school, learning, finishing in a reasonable time, gaining confidence, and even improving!!! I think it is less overwhelming so he's able to focus on getting it done better and is able to do cop...

Re: Middle-High schoolers w/Dysgraphia & Auditory Processing
I had a detailed response for you and now it's all gone! For now I just want to say thank you so much for your thoughtful and insightful comments. I really appreciate it! I'm going to let it all soak in and do some pondering and research. We will see this son's OT Thursday and she's suggesting to a ...

Re: Middle-High schoolers w/Dysgraphia & Auditory Processing
Here's what my husband and Ibhavw come.up with. We will have DS12 "teach" PHFHG to DS9. He can read more challenging material, but he had to expend so much energy to attend that he doesn't retain. This seems like a comfortable level for him to push his limits a touch but not too much, still learn va...

Re: diff way to fill out Signers cards-RevtoRev
Gweeny, I'd love to know adaptations you've made for your son. My oldest son is 12.5 and will enter 7th this fall and turn 13 in Dec. we just found out he has dysgraphia, auditory processing issues, sensory stuff.... And I don't know how to adapt things. He's always been a slow moving kiddo, so I ju...

Middle-High schoolers w/Dysgraphia & Auditory Processing
How might one make HOD work for an older child with these issues? I am very familiar with HOD but not with dysgraphia and such. He also has sensory issues. They happen to primarily be in the visual, oral, and auditory areas but affect many other areas too. This is all new Dx. I've changed him from H...

Re: Physical science for high school
My high schooler is doing the advanced EE right now and LOVES IT!!! It's very clear and well-done, and the instruction is on the computer for doing the labs as well. That means you have clear visual instruction along with written instruction on the screen to show you step by step. It's very helpful!...

Re: High school science from another guide?
Thanks. I was thinking the science plans were going to be available for all the high school sciences in case some needed a different. My daughter's mind is one that needs it planned out and not just "do the next lesson" in order for her to function at her best. ;) And my mind isn't so hot at getting...

High school science from another guide?
We've been away from HOD for my crew while I've gone through brain surgery and now I'm easing us back. My 9th grader will probably start WG next year for 10th but will already have her ICP science credit. Are we able to get only the science plans from another guide to sub in? I think I recall some c...

Re: Beginning high school Science plans....
EE for us in 9th is counting as "integrated physics and chemistry with lab" since we are doing the advanced version. It's worth a full credit IMO. Definitely more than 1/2. Doing that, you won't need the other ICP course.
