Re: Math question?
Yes, I do this too Julie. So glad I can let them continue doing what works without discouraging them or making them feel it's "wrong"...Thank you!

Science in CTC for older kids?
For those of you using CTC for older kids (my son is 12 1/2), how do u find the science to be for them? Does it seem too young for them? Does it hold their interest? I am wondering if maybe I should supplement. If it was just the amount of reading with the zoology book that was the problem, I would ...

Math question?
How do u moms feel about children using their fingers to add and subtract? Is it frowned upon? I used to encourage mine not to. And would encourage them to use a number line or manipulatives. But it's gotten to the point where i am just tired and let them lol unsure emoticon. As long as they r getti...

Re: Preparing and English 2?
Oh, thanks so much ladies! I will definitely be moving her up to English 3 as soon as possible then. I have to say that English 2 does feel very simplistic for her age right now. My ds was younger when I did it with him. Anyway, thanks again!

Preparing and English 2?
Hi all, I started my dd who is doing Preparing with English 2 because that's the book I had. But I was just looking through the LA boxes for Preparing and the next guide, CTC. English 2 seems very behind. Just wondering if I should skip 2 and move my dd to English 3 sooner? She is 10 and 4th grade. ...

Re: A Child's Geography
I agree with Nealewill - the maps are necessary. :D I'd for sure print those. Do you have a copier? If you do, you can just print 1 each of the Travel Log options, and copy them as needed throughout the year. Otherwise, if you don't have a copier, you may want to just print enough Travel Logs for t...

Re: R&S English
Carrie and I just chatted about this, and we both think it would be best to follow what is scheduled in each guide your ds is doing, which would be the following... For 6th grade in CTC: Do 1st half of R & S English 4 For 7th grade in RTR: Do 2nd half of R & S English 4 For 8th grade in RevtoRev: D...

Re: R&S English
Doing a large portion of it orally has made R & S English easier to do in our home! We can clip along with it quite quickly. I also wanted to mention that HOD's guides plan for some years to utilize R & S English half-speed, meaning one level of R & S English is spread across several years so that ...

Re: R&S English
Thank you so much Julie for such a thorough explanation :-D. I think the only question I have is what if your child is behind? My ds is 12 yrs old/6th grade (really "supposed" to be 7th) and just began English 4. So, I was thinking he should do English daily, so he can be on book 6 by 8th grade? Thx...

Re: R&S English
Oh, Thanks guys. Where did I miss Carrie's suggestion to doing most of it orally? That does help a lot! And I need a creative writing book to go along with R&S? Thanks!
