Re: What is your "ONE" Tip to make HOD successful?
Mine is a tip...I think? Just do it ....but the way that fits YOUR family...there's the beauty of HOD. I spent DAYS looking and watching the "scheduling thread" that went through....printed out people's schedule...tried to make ours have all those great ideas....and that just wasn't working...so the...

Tiffanie You are right on! I think our children are the lucky ones! I sit in amazement at the conversations I can have with my 8 year old about God...how amazing is that? She can talk about it...she can use the verses that we are memorizing...it is just a part of her day as math is....I LOVE that......

A lightbulb moment
So you all seem like incredibly AWESOME mommies...and we are here in the midst of UTTER chaos most day....created by a toy dropping, screaming, yelling, foot stomping, toy throwing 16 month old....HOWEVER...we had a great moment today in LHTH with my almost 4 year old. As we read the stories for the...

Re: Does defending our choice to homeschool ever get easier?
I also must admit....we are truly blessed in that our family on both sides are extremely supportive...so I'm not sure what I would be like if I felt them bashing me in some way. I just wanted to say I wasn't "bashing" how you handled...I've never had to wear those shoes.

Re: Does defending our choice to homeschool ever get easier?
I don't know if this helps or not...but I have also learned NOT to answer in a question...so instead of saying, "yes why?" I go with..."I hope so." or "wherever God leads us." This seems to either end it for the party bc they don't know how to respond...or it gets a conversation started that I'm com...

I have a very distractable oldet child as well...I completely second doing as much work as possible when the baby is asleep...we have a 16 month old...it's a sprint to the finish line when he is asleep and NOT destroying everything!! Also, with my distractable ch...

Re: ACK!!
Oh I can SO relate...I have at times this weeks had a 15 month old "circling" the table yelling "ball ball...ball ball...ball ball" while we look at the globe for history....are we really learning when I have to raise my voice OVER him??? It's insane some days...and then he takes a nap....aaaaahhhhh...
