Re: Prepping for Rev2Rev's composer study

I had the same trouble on my husband's laptop. It would look fine in the printing module, but even when I hit preview it would be slightly to one side, making it not line up right. I switched to my laptop and it printed fine, so it was obviously some kind of setting within the laptop. I had checked ...

Re: Pics of Getting Ready for RevtoRev

So helpful! I copied and pasted this into my document for her weekly checklists/plans, and even the pics copied! Might work for others who want to keep the info for later years.

Re: DITHOR: Why 5 and 10 instead of 7 and 8?

I think it's because days 6 and 11 include prereading activities for starting a new book, but can be used with a current book. It usually involves studying the cover, illustrations, synopsis, or table of contents and answering questions. These are 'all levels together' days. You could just move the ...

Re: DITHOR-2nd Grade and 4th Grade Questions

We transitioned my ds7 from the ER to DITHOR this year in 2nd grade. We started with the easier books, including some that are suggested in the list at the end of the ERs. By January, he was starting Bigger and our days were getting longer, so we changed the schedule to reading everyday but doing DI...

Re: Intro and lots of questions!

Welcome Shelley! I agree with the pp that combining would be very difficult given your age gap, and am glad you realize that. I think I can help you with some of your questions about Beyond. You would not use DITHOR until after you have completed the emerging readers set. Yes, the emerging readers a...

Re: Another question...Deluxe PKG and Extensions for Preparing

If I am understanding you correctly, you have it right. The Bigger extension package is additional reading but the Preparing extensions substitute for the deluxe package, which is the independent history study. Many people use the Draw Write Now book for both, however - it is awesome! It's quite a t...

Re: Extension Pack explanations please

Now I'm the one confused - I thought you were planning on using Bigger but your last post asks about the extensions in Preparing. The extensions in the two guides work differently. In Bigger, the extensions are independent reading for older students, or read alouds with youngers if desired. In Prepa...

Re: A Few Questions re: Preparing

We are in Bigger this year, but I think I can answer a few of your questions. Yes, the dictation serves as spelling. Of course, you can always add whatever you want. This year we are doing Spelling Workout with dictation twice a week. I have a weekly checklist for assignments so nothing is accidenta...

Re: Extension Pack explanations please

I believe the extension packs in Bigger are independent supplemental reading for older children. Of course, you can always read them aloud if you wish. I just rechecked the packages list and didn't see any books that are in both packs, so I'm not sure what you meant by that - perhaps you could list ...

Re: Bigger or Preparing?

This year my 3rd grader feel into Preparing on the placement charts as well, but had a difficult time with Preparing initially as so many of the skills were new and challenging. We probably could have just slowed to half speed for a while, but I went ahead a put her in Bigger and she has done great....

Re: OT:Those of you planning on attending the Atlanta conference

My husband and I plan on attending. We went to NCHE last year but the scheduling wouldn't work out so we are going to try Atlanta this year. I seem to remember a previous post in which someone had hotel recommendations that were not specified. It would be great to stay in the same place with other H...
