Re: Getting Ready Question

I am looking for the posts that Julie did about what to run off for the year, what to put in binders, how to store items for the year, etc.

Re: SAT/ACT

We used the real ACT practice book and Chalkdust math ACT/SAT review. I found them a good combo. I watched the videos with the first child, but then I just helped the second one with any problems. I reviewed the Real ACT tests to point out exactly what they were missing. There is often a pattern. Je...

Re: Posting how it's going in the high school guides

I have two boys doing US 1. It is keeping them on track, and the writing is a bit of a stretch for one--a good stretch that he needs. They do not tend to love school, but this seems to be off to a good start. My daughter used part of the geography guide and did the world history guide and the last t...

US 1 Living Library

Can you please list your child's top three or four living library picks for this year? I have two boys who work long hours and do not love school who will be doing yhis guide this year. I think they might enjoy 3-4 of these extras, but I know they will not be able to get the whole set read.

MOH IV in US2

What is the first lesson used in this book? The description says that about half the book is used, but it would be helpful to know which lesson is the first used. Thank you.

Thank you! This book was a hit at our house with my daughter, and the boys will be using it this year. I will be checking out the sight further.

Re: want to return to HOD but I've created a placement probl

If you combine your oldest two or place the middle child with the two youngers (depending on which that child is closest to in skills), you will only be running 2 guides. That might feel more manageable and would not hold anyone back. I had much success combining age ranges within a guide. It is onl...

Re: Do you ever wish you could start over?

There are many children using MTMM for 9th grade and that is exactly where your 4th grader will be if you do one guide a year. My own daughter did both the last guides for 9th and 10th, and she is not behind one bit. You have so many years ahead of you that you cannot be behind. From a mom of two, a...

Re: Typing written narrations in high school

I allow typing. I bought some old-looking cardstock to run the typed narrations off on to glue to the pages. As long as they have a few things to write to exercise good handwriting skills, I allow typing of everything else.

Re: Combining for Electives only in High School

I am going to disagree with a couple of the posters above and say that you have a great idea. Of course, your plan is exactly what I do, so of course I would agree. I am just not able to keep up with everything unless some of my kids are combined. Electives are a simple way to streamline with high s...

Re: Rev. to Rev. for high school questions

Have you looked at samples of Rod and Staff? Milestone Ministries has nice samples. I would look at 6 just to make sure. Moms can usually tell if it is too much or just right. I would not place any higher than 6.

I enjoyed reading your blog! Have a great year. Your children are precious. It looks like you are very organized and ready to go. I know the pain of losing books!
