Praises for HOD

My oldest son is in 10th grade doing the World History manual. He has done HOD since 1st grade, Beyond. Writing has been a struggle for him, he's a boy! He had to write an essay for Health about Psalm 139:13. Here it is... Psalm 139:13 For you formed my inward parts: you covered me in my mothers wom...

Re: Those who don't break for summer

We school year round for many reasons. When we lived in FL it was because the summers were TOO hot. We enjoyed taking time off when the weather was cooler. Now that we live in AR we do it because of the time off in spring and fall with the garden and animals. The summers are not as hot so we enjoy b...

Re: Day 5 Ideas

Cleaning, going to town, fun things with Friends....whatever needs to be done, sometimes it is school catch up. It really is great to have the extra day.

We school year round. We start the new manual tomorrow. We will take some time during the summer to play and enjoy but need to keep moving. We will take time off through out the year as needed for our life

Re: Child Reading the Read-Aloud

My oldest took over reading story time to himself in Preparing. He was ready and could handle the reading level. I waited longer with my second. It was more out of necessity, I would have waited longer if I wasn't running 4 guides.

Algebra....

I have been trying to make a decision as to which way to take with my oldest son on Algebra. We finished 6B, he did not excel but he did not struggle. Some was harder than others. We finished Module A of VT. He bombed the final review. We are doing the Pre-Algebra from No Nonsense Math. I just finis...

Re: prep time weekly?

I printed all the forms at the beginning of the year. The other option is having your older students making the copies.

Congratulations on the new baby!

Re: not sure what to do. Four years left of school, five gu

Why skip a guide? There are only 140 days per guide. You could do more than 1 guide a year, doing some 5 day weeks or more than 35 weeks of school. This is if you want to finish all 5 guides. I have not used above Rev2Rev, we start MTMM in a few weeks. But my experience with HOD is each guide grows ...

Re: Let's share our schedules!

Carrie, wondered if you would mind sharing your schedule for this year? (when you get a moment  ) I am planning a new schedule and would love to look yours over for ideas. Thanks.

Glad you were able to take a vacation and happy you are feeling better.

Blessings,
Michelle

Re: Slowly getting settled

We are in Canehill, just outside of Fayetteville. We are loving it! Thanks for the hugs and prayers. I know the Lord will lead us to a great church and friends. (and fellow homeschoolers)

Slowly getting settled

Well the move has been made. We arrived in Arkansas on Sunday. Slowly we are settling in...so many things to do. Find a church, meet other homeschoolers, clean, unpack...the list continues. I haven't moved in 10 years and do NOT like moving! I am grateful that when we are ready to start school I kno...

OT: Prayer

We found a house in Arkansas (moving from FL) to buy. I would appreciate prayer that all well with our closing, packing and moving. It has been a crazy process and is almost over. We leave Sarasota June 1. We are very excited about this new adventure. Also sad for the fabulous group of friends we ar...
