Re: Weekly review, 9-11-08
Hi Kelly (waving), I will look forward to hearing about and seeing the caterpiller, sounds cool!! I was so glad to meet you and Evelyn. The first day of co-op was so rushed though, I realized afterwards that I didn't even take a peek at your new baby! :o I'm so looking forward to teaching the childr...

Re: Weekly review, 9-11-08
My first week in review! It only took us two weeks to do week one of Bigger Hearts...LOL. Mainly that's because we were easing in and both weeks were short weeks. After two weeks I can say that Bigger Hearts for his glory is a great fit for my 9-12 yo's (approx. grades 2,4,6). My 14 yo who has speci...

Re: Need encouragement and prayers*added more*
Would getting involved with a homeschool group for playtime or classes be an option in your area? We live in a pretty rural area but I have managed to find a co-op for some classes, a homeschool girl scouts troop for dd and a cub scouts pack. One of my sons is going to play a sport in the fall too. ...

Re: Any suggestions?
Could you do some of your homschooling while the youngest naps? Or maybe keep a box of busy toys and activities for the youngest that only come out while you're working with the older kids. If he's past the putting everything in the mouth stage both playdough (could do home made so it;s even more no...

Re: special needs children and HOD
I've homeschooled all along with special needs children. Over time you will find what works best for them. The main thing is to use materials at their ability levels not the grade they would be by public school standards. My autistic 14 yo did not read at all until he was 10, and then he could read ...

Re: Help w/ Choosing Resources for my special learners
Hi! Although I haven't started using HOD yet I will be using BHFHG with special needs children. The thing I like, from what I've seen so far, is that I can expect more (extra readers etc..) with the typical learners and less from the children with LD's. For instance I have a 14 yo with autism, typic...

Draw and Write Through History Question
Is this book written and drawn in by the children, in other words do they each need a copy or will one copy do? :?: I am figuring out which Preparing items to order, I seem to have quite a few of the science books and readers already on my shelves but I have never heard of this one and don't know if...

Re: Opinion Poll: Storytime for the new book (after Preparing)
I'm leaning towards saying that un-related storytime books might be good because it wouldn't make for over-kill on the topic. Un-related story time might introduce us to fun books we might not normal pick up and give a little variety to the year. I haven't even started my first year with HOD though ...

Planning on Bigger Hearts For His Glory and/or Preparing Hearts starting late in August. I think I'll like them both but not sure whether to try both at once or do Bigger at a faster pace and then Preparing at the typical pace or do them concurrently. I think I need to see Preparing before I make a ...

http://anothernaturewalk.blogspot.com/ I like reading blogs too. Mine does not have any Heart of Dakota posting on it yet because we aren't starting until after Tristan, my youngest, finishes his swim lessons in three weeks. It does have some cute pictures of my dd's new puppy a bit down the page th...

box arrived!
My box of Bigger Hearts for his Glory materials arrived on Saturday. I'm having great fun looking it over. This curriculum with extensions sure looks ideal for my family with 4 kids in less than 5 years. I don't think I've been as happy about something as this besides back when they were all quite l...

Thanks for the welcome! I got my catalog today and can pour over that while I wait for my order. I know the holiday weekend might slow it down a bit. I love the way the HOD books are laid out. We are kinda busy with a 1 day a week co-op and also girl scouts and cub scouts but it looks so easy to sta...

Starting Bigger soon
Hi, I've just ordered and wanted to introduce myself. I'm Jodi and I have 4 children, 3 boys and a girl ages 9,10,12 and 14. We have homeschooled all along and I would say we're very eclectic. I was going to order Preparing but after looking at the website and placement chart I realized my "little b...
