Thanks! In looking at the sample daily lesson plans for Beyond, I didn't see science listed so that's why I wasn't sure. I did find the list in the front of the catalog today that shows what is covered for history and science for each. Ooops! Thanks for the info on DITHOR and scheduling as well. You...

a few ?'s (DITHOR, Science, and schedule)

I got my catalog yesterday (yay!) and as I was looking it over it brought up a few questions for me... 1) If I do DITHOR with my daughter with Beyond (her "2nd grade" year) and I use level 2/3, do I use level 2/3 again next year (her "3rd grade" year) and just use the level 3 books, or would I move ...

Crystal, It is very easy to use any handwriting curriculum you want with your child. I'm using HWT with my son and have had no trouble. Once the child has the letter formations down, just have her (your dd, right?) do the copy work in HWT format. I'm already having my son (LHFHG) do this even thoug...

Hi Summer! We are using Bigger and one of the things I especially love about it is the Notebooking! I love how Carrie provides very specific instructions for the pages. My kids appreciate it, too. In the past, when I tried to have the kids do notebook pages, I expected WAY too much from them, and I...

I think that could be done using the appendix material however I think your older daughter would be missing out. It's kind of the opposite scenario of sacrificing what is best for the sake of the younger child. She looks to me to be clearly at Beyond with DITHR or Bigger with DITHR. If cost is an i...

Crystal, I agree that your daughter will be beyond the concepts in LHFHG, due to the target age-range being 5-7, and your daughter will be turning 8. She will fit much better in Beyond or Bigger. With that in mind, did you get a chance to read my comments up above about the difference in the...

But I will tell you trying to fit them all into a one size fits all program as I had before HOD I had far less time and it was very frustrating. With HOD I even have time to do some extras that fit our family's goals. So I just want to encourage you it really works very well. I know it kind of goes...

In regards to a moms not finding math being her strong suit ... that's what I love about both Carrie's lesson ideas and any texts that helps us to teach or a child to teach themselves...talk about pressure relief! I didn't realize she actually included lesson ideas as well. I think that will be VER...

Oooops! I did not realize I had more replies. I am glad I decided to check in here tonight! :D Carrie, thank you for the welcome! Editing the whole paragraph I just had posted to say, my daughter is reading level 4 books (easily) already. Looking at the age ranges, though, I wonder if it's possible ...

Thank you guys for all of the helpful replies! water2wine, it is nice to have some reassurance that I should be okay with two programs. With the curriculum I first had in mind I thought I would be combining my two and I just had that idea stuck in my head that I couldn't possibly do two programs...e...

New to hsing and probably to HOD (sorry, long!)

Hi! My name is Crystal and I am a SAHM of 3 great kiddos. My daughter is almost 7, my son is 5 1/2, and I have a 1 year old. My daughter and son have been in ps this year (my daughter in 1st and my son in pre-k), and for many reasons, my husband and I have decided to homeschool. I have been pouring ...
