Hi everyone!
I have a 8 yr old finishing up Beyond. We plan to be done by Christmas. He has some learning challenges so we've been taking it slow.
I have my 4 yr old in LHTH.

Re: Homeschooling day with TN laws
I live in TN and have homeschooled from the beginning with my son who is now 6th grade. TN is actually super easy to homeschool in. You are supposed to do 180 4 hr days. You do not have to turn in what curriculum you are using or a detailed description of what you did those 4 hrs. I registered with ...

Re: Anyone homeschool year round?
We sort of school year round. We have started a 6 weeks on 1 week off schedule this year and love it! For next year we will start school the week after July 4th and then go 6 on 1 off till Thanksgiving. Then we will have 3 weeks I think and then a 2 week Christmas break. Then back to 6 on 1 off fini...

Re: Any HOD families in Tn, Georgia,Fl, South Carolina ?
We live in Seymour, TN a small town almost halfway between Knoxville and Pigeon Forge. We love it because we have the mountains for hiking and other outdoors activites and even touristy stuff when we want it, but also big city stuff nearby in Knoxville all while we are in a small rural town. I am on...

Your 8th grader would do both.

Re: Skipping a guide?
Just to offer another option...my son is also 10 and in PHFHG this year. We are going to do 5 day weeks instead of 4 in order to get through the guides quicker and allow him to finish them all. Since Carrie writes the guides for 4 day weeks, there are only 140 days per guide. You only have to add ab...

Re: Tennessee HOD families
We are almost exactly halfway between Pigeon Forge & Knoxville. If you do head this way, let me know and I can give you info on homeschool groups in the area. There are lots to choose from! Also, several of the attractions/fun things in Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg give local discounts for Sevier Count...

Re: Tennessee HOD families
I am in Tennessee. You only have to take standardized tests in 5th grade, 7th grade, and high school if you register directly with the county. Some umbrella schools require them more often. We registered with the county at first but for the last 2 years we have umbrellaed under Home Life Academy bec...

Re: How do I "beef up" Little hands for kindergarten?
So we'll use LHTH but add the kinder math and fine motor skills/handwriting and phonics from LHFHG. Then, for 1st, we'll use the LHFHG guide and add first grade options for LA and math. This is what I would do as well. Also depending on your child's readiness, you could add storytime from LHFHG and...

Re: Help! How to use DITHOR student guide
I'm not entirely sure that this is what you are asking, but I'll give it a try...At the beginning of each section in the DITHOR workbook there is a page that says assigned reading calendar. It is broken down into 15 days. You schedule your books on it. So you either read 1 book for all 15 days, 1 bo...

Re: Library vs Buying Book Packs
For me it is definitely worth the money. Our library isn't that great and I would have to request many of the books on inter library loan which takes longer and costs a couple of dollars per book. It's easier to just order from HOD and know that I have everything I need. Plus, all the HOD books are ...

Re: teaching responsible and safe online research to older k
I have no answers, but I have been wondering this as well. My son is getting to the age where he wants to go online for himself and so far I haven't let him. Hopefully some of you more experienced moms will have some great ideas!
