Re: Not finishing all of the guides, would it bother you?

Thank you for your responses. I am looking at so many things right now. This year, I pulled many materials and individualized each kid's studies. I really want to school this way. Each kid gets what they need on an individual year basis. But, the work that it makes for me is overwhelming. Plus, my o...

Not finishing all of the guides, would it bother you?

I am unsure what curriculum we will use next year. I have used HOD in the past with my oldest and it is on the table for consideration for my younger two next year. They will be in 5th and 4th and usually are combined for everything except math. The older of the two is weak on reading skills. We are...

Re: Finally figured out why ds balks at HOD. Help?

I hope I don't offend you, but why is the decision for his curriculum up to him? It should be up to you and where God, in His Wisdom, leads you, as his teacher. :D I am not offended by your answer, but I do respectfully disagree. I homeschool for many different reasons, and those have adapted over ...

Finally figured out why ds balks at HOD. Help?

I used Bigger, Preparing, and a few weeks of CtG with my oldest. At the time he was at the upper level of the age group for CtG, but for some reason he really struggled with the work load. Add to it that it was my first year to run two guides and that both of my younger kids were learning to read (o...

R&S English in CTC

We are doing CTC and loving it. Ds did CLE LA last year, but we switched to R&S 4 as scheduled in CTC. I think it will mostly be a review, but CLE was rigorous for us last year and I like this approach better. I see that the entire book is not scheduled in CTC. Do you just continue with it next year...

Are there supply lists somewhere for CTC and Beyond?

I remember someone posting links to a list of supplies in the past. Does anyone have a link for lists of all supplies needed in these two guides?

Thanks!

How is creative writing taught in HOD?

I have used SL with an older child and I was lost when she hated creative writing assignments. I did not know how to teach her to write and SL LA did not cover the "how" process at that time. Now with ds, we have not really done any creative writing, yet. I have been looking at Bigger for him (3rd g...
