Need help with Preparing Hearts...
Hi Everyone :) We got a little behind this week with our group work since some things came up. We were looking at the history assignment for Unit 7 Day 1, the 3 dimensional pyramid. What size paper would you recommend for that pyramid? Also does anyone have a finished pyramid that I could look at? I...

Re: Let's share our schedules!
Wow, I am so impressed with some of these schedules. How do you do it? How do you get your children to work on their own without staring out of the window, fiddling with their fingers, or getting up 3000 times? I have a schedule down on paper, but we can never follow it.

A Little Discouraged
So there I was thinking that I was all ready to start yesterday, and then we go to do history, and I didn't have Grandpa's Box! I really thought that I had that book. Arrrggghhh-to say the least! I went out last night to Barnes and Noble to see if they had it, but they only had it online, so I order...

Weekly Check-in 10/23/08
This week was extremely fun and busy. I'm sorry to say that only two days were spent with HOD. The other two were spent at the NC State Fair. We had so much fun! We met friends on both days. The kids learned a lot about NC agriculture, farming, and being more environmentally conscious. Our house is ...

Weekly Review 09/25/2008
Well this is our 5th week of using Beyond and it was great! We had a lot of fun with the tulip in the flower pot art project in unit 5 associated with the history reading this week. I even made one :) Usually during history and sometimes science I let the boys sketch, paint, or use playdough, just w...

Weekly review 09/04
Well this week has been a little different. I have been on the couch or bed doing school with the kids. My back has been hurting badly ever since Monday. I felt so terrible, a couple of times I had to send them away to play, I just couldn't even sit up to read. My 8 year old has helped out with that...

I feel silly asking...
Hello, I just wanted to double check about the reading levels listing for the book lists. So when it says level 3.3 mean 3rd grade, or not necessarily? I saw some books that had a level of 5 and some with 3 or 4 all in the same group, so I was curious. My son is a good reader, he is 8. I am trying t...

Re: What do you do w/ completed artwork/projects
Hi Christy! My suggestion is for flatter projects such as paintings and drawings get an inexpensive 10x13 inch frame (most paper should fit in here)for each child to display on a wall. They could even decorate the frame with glitter and such. Place the artwork in it and change them out weekly, month...

Re: Couple of questions...
Hi Kathleen, Thank you so much for your reply! So basically what I was looking for were suggestions for DITHOR. Caleb is using Beyond. Thank you for pointing me to the book selection page. I do have all of the boy interest books listed. Some were not on the book list, which is why I thought that I d...

Couple of questions...
Hi All, Blessed afternoon to you all. We just officially started today-3rd grade and Kindergarten. I was going thru the sample book ideas for my 3rd grader, and I have the books included in the boys interest set. That leaves me with some open sections meaning I have the book list recommendations, bu...

Reply to Karen about a 4 day week...
Welcome Marie, We do a 3-4 day week here. We also school year round. What I do is keep a post it tab on that current day and when the boxes are done move to the next day. It is nice to have the unit numbers to see how far you have come through the book but you can really decide how many days per we...

Order...
Hi All, I have a question about the order of how the days go. The way it is set up the first box is History. Am I able to do these in any order that I choose or do I have to do History first? I ask because this past year we did Bible first in efforts to teach my children that God comes frist above a...
