Re: Bigger or Preparing for 3rd
My 3rd grader just finished up Bigger Hearts (my third and last time using Bigger) and it was just the right for her. Some days we did double lessons. It wasn't too hard or easy.

Re: Starting Bigger for the 2012-2013 school year
My younger two, now 8 and 9, are enjoying the Bigger Guide and I can still get the oldest, now 13, to participate in some of the activities. We have gone slow this time around due to deployments (first time thru guide was shore duty), oldest attending middle school part-time for Band and I keep addi...

Re: Questions on Bigger Poetry
I copy to poem for each of them so we all can see the poem together. I also have them either write the poem or I will retype it on cardstock and they will decorate the paper related to the poem. I use it as part of their art. My son's idea of art is always drawing planes and ships in attack mode eve...

Re: Link for Getting Ready for Bigger Hearts
I have mine set up very similar except I don't have a bin for the books just a bookshelf. One bookshelf for each child. I have two in Bigger right now and already went thru it once with my oldest.

Starting Bigger for the 2012-2013 school year
for the second time. I used Bigger with my oldest who is now 12. My younger two who are 7 and 8 will work together with Bigger's History and Science. I use MUS and FLL for our math and language arts. I did enjoy the guide when my oldest worked thru it for her 3rd grade year so I hope my other two wi...

Missin HOD
I took a year off and continued with another year off and now I wished we stuck with HOD. Poo. LHFHG was a fun program but LHFHG was a bit hard but during that difficult time we learned my son had some medical issues and it was a reason for it not to be working. I cannot purchase for this year so I ...

My future 6th grader is interested in using DITHOR next year. I used DITHOR back in 2n and 3rd grade and then to ACE for 4th and 5th. We would like to go back to DITHOR for 6th. She still needs work her writing and would like to know what you would recommend. I have Writing Strands 2 and 3 (older ed...

Re: Will not be advancing to the next guide
I tried to double up the days but didn't work out as planned. If it was just her and me it wouldn't be so bad but with the other two in the mix, it started to take away from them and our stopping time. Still getting use to the fact it takes a hour to drive to appts and such and if we take public tra...

Will not be advancing to the next guide

Re: 3rd grader doing the reading in Bigger themselves?
I used Bigger awhile ago and by the time we finished using it my 3rd grader was reading the books independently and doing some of the work independently. I did try keep history together because I personally enjoyed listening to it.

Re: WHAT TO DO:TRL/Explode the Code 1/R&S Phonics Grade 1
I am using 100 EZ lessons with ETC series and my dual have been doing well. I looked at other 1st grade programs and they seem rather easy and would be repeating what my son has learned and what my daughter is currently using. Next year we are just gonna do lots of reading and the rest of ETC and sp...

Re: Grammar besides R&S
I am using A.C.E. after completing FLL volumes 1-4. We gave R&S a try but FLL more enjoyable for us. A.C.E. is giving my daughter the independence she needs and something less teacher invasive which is something I need for the next year or so.

All is well but have to take it easy for about a month and it just so happens it's gonna take a month for us to travel and settle.:) The schools books are packed up. ...
