Re: Dictation Woes
Are you pointing out all the punctuation and bold words etc. Right before you do the passage. I find this helped my dd tremendously. She was repeating passages for one missed comma or a missed Capital Letter. Sometimes I let her try again later in the day too if its really important to her.

Re: Slower speed in Rev to Rev for dyslexic son?
MP3 Player came to mind. Audio books links like librivox audiobooksforfree have lots of books to listen to. Also your library may have books to listen to, often dyslexics are allowed to listen to the material in stead of having to read it all. Reading some but not all is ok with me. I wonder if that...

Hi Chelseahenson, I think there are more than 2 questions :-) Ok so you plan to use LHFHG with younger kids. 1st) My oldest is almost 11, and has ADHD and mild Asperger's Syndrome. My 11 year old appears to be best suited for the PHFHG, but may do ok with the Bigger If your children haven't been in ...

Re: Clay (CTC)
Every time we tried to "save" the clay it got weird and slimy.
Now with 2 of them in one program we use all of it each time.
Maybe try cutting the recipe in half?

Re: A little OT: Phonics and emotional breakdowns
I'd like to chime in on What I've learned about the brain structure at age 4, at age 4 a average brain can hold only 3-4 pieces of information. So "cat" can be learned even "Shot" maybe learned because in ez lessons it is seen as 3 sounds, (sh always seen together). Words that are longer than 3-4 so...

Is his grip on the pencil good? Is it just the Mechanics of writing or the putting down his thoughts? Sometimes I let my daughter type out her narration and email it to me. This really helps as she is a lefty who wraps her thumb. We did a bunch of hand and finger strengthening exercises which has re...

Re: Confessions of a hovering momma
I love your honesty! Funny we have been having really hard days here with CTC. After much prayer here as well. I actually realized I was expecting to much independence from my 13 year old. Stepping in just a bit more is what she needed. We have had 3 days of school finished before 2pm even with late...

that triggers a thought, if you use a large white board for him to draw the story on he will be using his gross motor skills. it may make it easier for him to do it large than on paper.

Welcome to HOD. Do as little or as much as you feel he can do, that is the blessings of Homeschooling. My daughter has some developmental delays as well, you will find lots of moms here to support you! We did nuro-developmental therapy for 4 years with our daughter. Therapy makes such a difference b...

a friend of mine uses this app with her child. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/proloquo2go/id308368164?mt=8 They couldn't afford the ipad/app initially but with the help of family and friends who pitched in, they were able to buy it. Now he can "speak" so to speak. Is he interested in electronic devi...

Re: Need some tips for narration...
Have you started by reading out the tips for narration in the index for the kids? Maybe even posting them in your school room will help. My one daughter really struggles with narration due to her audio processing and short term memory issues. Often I can get the whole story out of her at dinner time...
