Re: The book controls everything

Oh Carrie that's so cute! My dd will also do things just because they're in the book. From time to time she wants to read ahead in our storytime book but I won't let her because "the book says so." It's a nice excuse to slow down my book-devouring child. It also helps when there's handwr...

Re: Need Advice for Son with fine Motor Issues

I agree with the previous post. I would work on his fine motor skills-playdough, writing in sand with his finger, painting, silly putty (you can even hide and object in a ball of silly putty or playdough and have him work to find it), puzzles, blocks, cutting, stickers. I wouldn't let the fine motor...

Re: Good books for your kids

I'm incredibly picky with my daughter and we've read a bunch of the originals out loud (she's not quite 5 yet). The children are incredibly respectful to adults and responsible and C and I have had some great conversation from these books.

Re: Introduction of a newbie

My husband had a hard time feeling really comfortable with homeschooling, but it's something that I'd wanted to at least try since our oldest was 1. So, last year he finally said we could give it a go and this year we're homeschooling the oldest for K and my husband loves it. Good luck on your...

I have actually wondered that as well. I'm curious to see what kind of answer you get.

Re: Doing LHTH twice?

Very cool. I wasn't sure this would be doable but you ladies, as always, have encouraged me! I really may go ahead and start in January when he turns 3.

Re: Drool....Preparing is here....Drooling even more!!!

Oh how fun! We just started LHFHG (okay, we're on unit 13 but you get the picture) and I'm just dying to order Beyond... but I'm making myself wait until at least January or I'll be wanting to jump the gun and start Beyond... I'll bet Preparing... is fabulous though. I can't wait until I get to see ...

Re: Doing LHTH twice?

You know, I was wondering if it would work to do one Bible/devotional the first time and the others the second time. I'm glad to get someone else's opinion that it might work. Also, I didn't know that there were options for olders and youngers. That's great! I wish I could start it tomorrow with him...

Doing LHTH twice?

I've been thinking about starting LHTH after my little guy turns 3 to give him some mommy time, and then doing it again when he is 4.5 or 5 and adding in some other thinkgs like the R&S ABC books. Would it be fun for him to do it twice? I don't have it so I wasn't sure if that would work or if it wo...

Re: Anyone use Beyond for 2nd grade? (long)

What if you make a plan to have Beyond brought to you next time someone come to visit, and in the meantime double up on LHFHG and just let your 4 yo play for right now? I think you could easily go through LHFHG a little faster, and maybe your ds would like the readings if they were longer instead of...

Re: Week in Review 8-22-08

Kathleen-I really enjoyed reading your posts! You make Bigger and LHTH look like so much fun!! It's really making me want to go ahead and start LHTH with my 2 yo, but I'm trying to hold off until he's at least 3, maybe 3 1/2. What a great week! We were taking our first break this week. We had gone 1...

Re: DOES ANYONE EVER INCORPORATE THE OTHER BOOKS IN WITH LHTH?

Are you asking about LHTH or LHFHG? If you're asking about LHTH (this is coming from someone who has only used LHFHG so you can take my advice or leave it), I might add the math and handwriting, if you already had the LHFHG guide so you'd have the activities for the math. I wouldn't add the science ...

Re: Who stretches programs out over more than 1 year?

I think that's a fabulous idea. I'm thinking of stretching things myself because C has the opposite problem as she wouldn't technically be in PS K this year because she was born 3 weeks too late, and the rate we're going she'll be doing Beyond... in March. She thrives on routine though so we're not ...
