Confusing week in Beyond History...can you help me out?

Can you ladies help me? We are using Beyond this year with my daughter. We just finished Week 5. So far until this week (5), our history reading was really good. She enjoyed it a lot. But then this week, the history started feeling disjointed and for lack of a better word...plain old confusing. I'll...

Re: I need to find a new place to vent

Oh the joys and trials that is Facebook. I'm sorry for your "attack" on there today. As a rule I don't post a lot of personal family stuff online unless it is funny or sweet. Too often, people feel the need to insert themselves into others' lives and have every opinion imaginable. The trouble with F...

Thanks!! Phew. I'm glad to know they will work. She is at least a solid end of third grade level reader or beginning 4th grade.

Book substitution? Is this book ok to use??

I'm trying to avoid having to buy new books and I don't like borrowing from the library if I can help it because I don't like to feel rushed to return a book. At a garage sale I found "A Lion to Guard Us" and "The Sword in the Tree." $.50 each!!!! After looking at the books, I think we will read A L...

Re: Beyond: Adding to LA

We do the copywork from the poetry out of the TM but we use Language Smarts for grammar and other LA skills. It is workbook format and my daughter loves it and so do I. It requires almost no prep, short lessons, and is excellent. We have a handwriting book but so far my daughter's handwriting is pre...

Sand colors were brilliantly bright. That looks like a lot of fun. I'm going to have to try it with my kids soon. Thanks for the idea.

Re: Placement questions

I think adding the extensions is a great idea! Sometimes just taking that leap and finally making the decision is the hardest part...once it's made it tends to be less stressful. :)

Re: placement

Does she complain about the work being too easy? Is she bored? Or is she compliant and enjoying Little Hearts? I suppose if she isn't showing signs that it is too easy for her, then finish with it and beef it up like you had mentioned. If, however, she is showing signs that it is too easy and wants ...

Re: Super heroes - ok or bad for kids?

We like superheroes. My son has always had a fascination with roughhousing, fighting, epic battles, and all that. He would turn sticks into guns...even his sister's baton becomes a bazooka. We see nothing wrong with this because he is also my cuddlebug and loves to be affectionate. He knows b...

I knew why I had to come back to HOD... tonight confirmed it

My daughter quoted our memory verse tonight at bed ,unprompted, while praying. "I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety." Psalm 4:8. I knew I came back to HOD for a good reason....the integral part that Bible plays in our lives esp when unprompted by me....n...

DITHOR- should daughter do vocab work everyday?

Hi all, we are starting our first week with school. My daughter is LOVING storytime and DITHOR. She is reading about Amelia Earhart in DITHOR. She is an excellent reader. We did vocab work yesterday (introducing it to her actually) but I was wondering if she should be doing vocab each time she comes...
