Bright kid, confused mom....curriculum junkie issues

Talk me down, ladies... As some of you know, I have struggled to stick with a curriculum. I have tried many, many things. Last year, I started HOD Bigger and then after about 11 weeks switched to Preparing. Then I ditched that, and moved on to doing my own thing...we just did MOH for history and som...

Re: Copyright question (and record keeping for right/left sides)

I live in a state that requires me to keep a log of each day of school, we have lots of rules here and I dislike it. I don't want to rewrite all we are doing....so far I have just ignored this and hoped for the best. All I have done so far, record-wise, is write the dates we do school. I am extremel...

Welcome back...we have recently come back to HOD as well. Seems to be quite a few of us who thought the grass might be greener elsewhere but came back to the gem of HOD!
Glad you are back...glad I am back,too!

Re: I need some input...

Your words are helpful to me, too! Even now, I am considering moving up (for my son) because it would enable us to do that......--golden streams coming down from the sky, held up on a silver platter---idol I call the *Four Year Cycle* I am just teasing myself here...I can get so caught up in that. A...

Should I move up to Preparing, or stay in Bigger?

Hi all! Looking for a bit of advice....I began BIGGER a couple months ago for my 2 older children. DS is almost 10, DD is 7. DD placed in Beyond, DS in Preparing, but I wanted to combine them, so I opted for middle ground. I am finding that Bigger with extensions is good for my son, but he could eas...

Re: Using Prepaing for almost 8 year old

Hi, friend!!! It depends on how much you would be asking of them. I don't think the history would be too much for them to grasp, nor the science. The Bible might be a bit advanced for them, and you would need to help them more. I think the main thing with Preparing is it is guiding them toward more ...

Re: I need some input...

I would agree; my 9.5 yo son and 7yo daughter are both using Bigger. I really am always torn, too, because my older child is far above my daughter's level. I am using the extensions for him, and she is doing it as-written, though some things are too hard for her. The extensions include a history tex...

Re: how should I combine this gang of chidren??????

My 9yo is using Bigger with extensions, and my 7yo is using Bigger as written. My 9yo fit into Preparing, and my 7yo into Beyond, but I chose to use one program. Bigger was in between. Bigger is working well, because of the extensions. I think it might be a tad over the 6yo's level, but still they w...

Re: I dont know what to do....

Every math program is so different....if he was doing well with A Beka before, maybe keep using it at home? I have no advice for using Singapore, I tried to convert to it, but it didn't go over well here, either. I know it is a fabulous program, but it was too hard to switch and find the right level...
