Re: Viking Quest 1 - Raiders of the Sea
My hubby read all of the series to my children a couple years ago, I gave each of them (including dad) a book in their Christmas stockings, and they were all thrilled. There are 5 in the series, and you can get all 5 through cbd.

Update on my burnout
Hello, dear friends. I just wanted to post a short thank you to all of you who encouraged me, advised me, and prayed for me this summer. I had posted about my feelings of burnout awhile back, and I read your responses carefully and considered what each of you had to say. I was so burnt out, that I c...

Re: We started Preparing today!
Day 3 today, and I am really, really pleased with how things are going. I can see now why the Lord kept leading me to do this with my daughter. I can see her heart softening....she is doing great with the workload, too. I am so proud of her! Preparing is awesome. THANK YOU.

We started Preparing today!
Just finished our first day of Preparing! Last year was rough, and I am really, really trying to make things better this year. We followed the guide, it was hard for her, and I had moments of thinking maybe we should go back and do Bigger, but I am hopeful that after a couple of weeks, she will get ...

I have struggled this summer, but knew you were faithful in praying for me. We begin Preparing today, and Res to Ref next week! By the grace of God alone, He has giv...

Re: I need advice, ds does not like school
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this! I have not been on the board in some time, I have been really in a slump with my children, my attitudes toward parenting and schooling....etc. By the grace of God, things are steadily improving! Julie, your post is very, VERY helpful! I took notes, and plan ...

Burnout on a deep level, with parenting
Let me preface this by saying this has nothing to do with HOD and so maybe this doesn't belong here. If that is the case, I am totally fine with it being deleted. Over the years, I have received some wonderful counsel and support here, so I was thinking maybe someone here with more experience, who h...

Re: Science in future guides
Thanks, Carrie! Think I have decided to trust the HOD method and forgo the Gen Science and co-op. These little doubts sometimes creep in and I have to keep reigning in my thoughts, and turning it over to the Lord... it was such a joy and gift to meet you and Julie at CHAP...THANK YOU from the bottom...

Science in future guides
Does anyone know if Carrie has discussed specifics about science in future guides? I read the sticky thread about why she has chosen the sciences she has chosen. This coming year, I was planning to use RtoR with my 6th grader, as written. But our co-op is teaching Apol Gen Sci, and his 2 best friend...

Re: Catholic newbie with questions!
Hi, we are not Catholic but Orthodox Christian, and have loved HOD! I honestly thought I would run into a lot of problems, but it has been smooth sailing! We used CtoC this year with no modification at all. We are using RtoR next year, and I will probably substitute one book. In Preparing, I would s...
