Re: First week of MTMM
Awesome! I love how your son is really looking forward to the Bible study and growing deeper in his faith this year through it. What more could a momma ask for than that? ! :D :D What a bitter sweet week you have had! I'm sure that had to have been tough taking your first baby to college. I can only...

Re: Math help please
I would definitely recommend the hands on activities with the workbook for 1b, 2a, and 2b. At those levels/age the hands on helps much more than the pictoral examples in the textbooks. I would just start where you need to start and go at a pace that works well for him. It's more important that these...

Re: Little Review on how CTC is going for us...
I just want to encourage Nigel to hang in there! The workload at the beginning of CTC was somewhat overwhelming to my dc as well even after having done HOD from LHFHG on up. For them it was more the writing on the notebook pages that was challenging them, but also the longer day with the longer read...

Re: order of books in DITHOR
You can pick any order you want for the genres. If he is excited about one particular one, I would probably start with that one. :D I see Bigger listed in your signature for your oldest dc. If you are doing Bigger this year, you will do all of the genres this year since Bigger schedules DITHOR every...

Re: LHFHG Correct Letter Formation?
I agree with Melissa. I didn't focus on the right way to do letters enough when my dc were younger and I think their handwriting now suffers because of it. :( It might seem faster and easier to him now, but in the long run the correct formation will help him to write easier and more quickly. It does...

Re: Drawn into the Heart of Reading--Am I missing something?
We've love DITHOR and use it as written. This will be our 5th year using it. The only thing we have done differently is actually do it every day even when it is scheduled only 3 days a week because my dc begged me to do it. There have been times that we haven't done the final project for some reason...

Re: Singapore Math-3A?
I think sometimes when they write the problems that way, they are thinking that they will be done mentally especially if that is something that they have recently worked on. Both of the problems you mentioned would be easy to do mentally (500+300=800 and 65+9=74 so 874; 700+200=900 and 46+54=100 so ...

Re: Ress to Reform Map Quest printing help please
Do you have an updated version of adobe reader? If not, that might help. My map trek program automatically launched in my browser when I put in the disc, but I had problems printing it from my browser. So I opened the files on the disc manually in my adobe reader program outside of my browser. I was...

Re: Land Animals (CTC) help
I just want to encourage you to hang in there! We struggled the first weeks of CTC as well. It was the hardest guide for us so far adjusting into the workload. I think the amount of independent work is a big step up for the dc and then for us moms directing that work and checking it can seem overwhe...

Re: How many Oceans are there?
I think that depends on who you ask. The Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, and Arctic Ocean are generally recognized as the oceans of the world. Many also consider the southern portions of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans as a separate ocean called the Southern Ocean. So both answ...

Re: Dictation
You are correct that once your dc gets the dictation passage correct, you move on to the next one. I think the difference in wording is just for variety and mean the same thing...do dictation.

Re: Drawn into the Heart of Reading--Am I missing something?
thanks for this post...still have a question though. At the end of a genre when they are working on their project for 5 days...are they only doing this when the guide has a scheduled DITHOR day? If so, in CTC it would take them nearly 2 weeks to finish their project since DITHOR is only scheduled 3...
