How about an empty Altoids can? I was cleaning out the van and ran across two--dd likes to stick her empties in the side door pocket. Should have read the thread to the end...I see two others mentioned the mint tins. I use the BreadBeckers recipe, too. Great stuff. I have the WonderMill--make great ...

It sounds like you have given this type of math instruction plenty of time to see if it will work for your child or not. I have had similar decisions to make with my children. My eldest is a math whiz--he finished algebra in 7th grade and did AP calculus and calculus independent study his last two y...

I've been using Homeschool Easy Records for years and am very pleased with it. Record keeping becomes even more important as you reach high school--for grades and an eventual transcript. Also, as a child becomes more independent, I like him/her to have an assignment sheet with the daily tasks listed...

Oh, and may I also ask you (I forget if I've asked this already), if I use HWT, will I be able to follow/adapt your IG for that? My son has some sensory issues and still uses the dagger grasp and I've heard wonderful things about HWT for children with disabilities. I also think it may benefit my le...

Amen! I deal with intermittent cps in my hands--I think it stems from back/neck issues as I have horrendous trigger points around my shoulder blades and in my neck. My massage therapist has been a tremendous help. Make sure you're using something to support your wrists while on the computer (mouse a...

Hi Crystal, I'll try to answer some of your questions concerning programs I am using successfully along with LHFHG with my son. For our phonics program I'm using Ordinary Parent's Guide to Teaching Reading--from what I understand this guide covers all phonics a child will need up through 4th grade l...

But I do not want to rant completely on public schools because there is a reason for public school and like water2wine mentioned (I think) other people aren't called to homeschool like we are, so thankfully there are schools, but they need a major overhaul. The way I see it is our children will be ...

In addition to frequent visits here to the HOD boards 8), I would recommend getting you and your kids plugged in with a local homeschool group. You need real live positive support in the decision your family has made. We've all been there with the criticism. Mine lasted a relatively short period of ...

OT: Spelling issues

I have a friend with a high school student who has problems with spelling. She is in a program that will issue her a diploma when she graduates in two years, but only if she gets her spelling scores up on the achievement test the program uses as criteria for progress. Does anyone have any links to a...

Hi Sweet Jen, I saw your question about the tabs on my comment section but cannot find your e-mail  (disorganized) I bought those at CVS. But I think you definitely could get them anywhere. They are RE-STICKABLE tabs. So I move them as we go along. I laughed at your index card comment, as I h...

Okay, let me see if I can get a visual of this. I'm visual--charts and stuff always help me. 9.5 8--currently in Bigger Week 10 LHFHG 7 6 5 LHTH 4 Yep, helps me a lot. I think the plan you sketched out sounds great. Based on what you said about your 8 yo, I would definitely put the two oldest in Big...

I was thinking a week or two (providing all goes well with delivery...had some minor complications when ds was born) off for everyone to bond/acclimate ( and mom to heal!), keeping up with story time though, and then doing 2-3 days a week till we get back into the swing of things, then bumping back...

Welcome, Kelly! I'm working on LHFHG with my 5 yo son--we love it. Finished week 5 yesterday. I think you'll find that your 2.5 yo may tag along with quite a few of the activities--especially those on the left page each day--the rhymes, art, Bible stories, etc. If you're doing seatwork with your old...

Will be praying here.

My cousin went through this a few years ago and feared an MS diagnosis. They then tested her for Lyme disease--turns out, that was what she had--treated with antibiotics. Just mentioned this to be sure that Lyme was included in the battery of tests they've already run on you.
