Re: schedule modifications for middle school guides?

Also, in this post, if you scroll down, you will a schedule Julie had with "Teacher Blocks" and "Independent Blocks" for the upper guides. I don't know if that will be helpful or not:

Re: schedule modifications for middle school guides?

Hello, I've been contemplating how I might help you. I don't use block schedules myself so I'm not that familiar with them, and I'm not sure how they would work with an HOD day. Julie has sometimes suggested "homework" in the upper guides. This is how they do it in their house: https://www.heartofda...

Re: Switching from SCM to HOD resurrection to reformation

Hello! Before I found HOD, I did Genesis to Deuteronomy from SCM. I love SCM and enjoy many of their products. I think this will be a very easy transition for you as there are many overlaps. Looking at the next three programs in SCM, they would loosely correspond this way: Middle Ages, Reformation, ...

Homeschooling DD12 with Mono

My DD12 has been very ill this last week - including going to the ER for severe dehydration due to hardly eating or drinking for 4 days. After several negative tests (strep, covid, flu, rsv) we are now suspecting mono. She is on Week 31 of RevtoRev. She couldn't do any school last week and now I am ...

Re: Suggestions for child with ADD

Hi Jan, I'm sorry to hear of your struggles. I'm not sure I'm going to be of much help as we are in the early stages of an ADHD diagnosis for my 7 yo son. But I am noticing he has a slower processing speed than his older brother and sister and am anticipating similar struggle in the future so I am c...

Re: Placement Help for 10 year old

I think that he could handle the subject matter of Preparing with no problem. You might consider that there's a difference between being able to handle the content of the guide and being successful with the skills the guide is teaching. He may very well be ready for the subject matter in Preparing,...

Re: Placement Help for 10 year old

Hello! LovingJesus asked some great questions that will probably be helpful for placement. Have you checked the placement chart to see where he fits skills-wise righ.t now? That may give you a fresh perspective. My first though was also Bigger if he places there skill-wise. Or maybe even picking up ...

Re: New Products: A Letter from Carrie

In the younger years, you will notice we are moving toward more of a living books education. I would just like to add that I think HOD was wonderfully rich in living books even before the new additions. The Visual History Sets are just the "cherry-on-top" of an education chock-full of living books!

Pilgrim's Progress Throughout the Years

Little Pilgrim's Big Journey became one of my DS6's new favorite books when it came out with Little Hearts last year. He knows all the characters and loves the story so much I had to buy the rest of the series! With the new Pilgrim's Progress in Preparing Hearts this year, I just wanted to share how...

Re: New Products: A Letter from Carrie

Carrie, thank you for such a beautiful and thoughtful explanation for the new updates! I always appreciate knowing the "why" behind a curriculum's choices. I have a son going in to Preparing and a daughter going into MTMM next year, so I am excited they get to experience the new materials. My daught...

Beyond with ADHD & Dyslexia

My 7 yo son was just diagnosed with ADHD and Dyslexia (although apparently it's not called dyslexia anymore but Specialized Reading Impairment) He will be doing Beyond in the fall. I did a search hear for ADHD and Dyslexia and read all of those posts, but I was just wondering if anyone had a...
